CHARACTERS:

CB   the untamed Gorilla – age 24, TOMMY the Dirtbike – 9 months

SETTING:

In the garage of CB’s apartment

TIME:

7:45 on October 31, 2007

CB
Tommy, we have to talk and we have to talk now.

TOMMY
Well CB, what’s on your mind?

CB
The race is in a month and we haven’t been communicating and I know you know how important this is to me.

TOMMY
Well, yes, I do and I know that you must at least have an idea of how important the big jump is.

CB
Yeah, but…

TOMMY
You know that I really want the pipe for this one.  I don’t ask for much, CB.   Why can’t you just get it?

CB
Well, Tommy, there’s a lot at stake here.  Most bikes are gonna be suped up with pipes, shocks, new handles and everything.

TOMMY
Well, what the heck does that have to do with me?   I don’t care about other bikes.

CB
Don’t you understand that every year, no one comes to this race with an original bike?  Don’t you wanna be the first to win a race with originality?   I will be the first Gorilla in history to win the race.  Do you know how important that is to me?

TOMMY
Yes, I do but…

CB
But nothing.  I’ve brought you up, raised you, taught you everything you need to know.   The least you could do is reason with me.

TOMMY
I will think about it.

CB
(aside)  You’ll think about it.   What the hell does he mean by that?   Why won’t he just understand my situation.  This is really stressful, going through this and I’m really considering throwing in the towel.

TOMMY
(aside)  The race, this – the race, that -   What about my goals and aspirations.   It seems like he’s being selfish.   What could I do?

CB
Damn, Tommy, this is a real big race.   All the other gorillas will be there.   This will be the only year our kind will be able to attend this race.   Tommy, it would mean a lot to me if you pull this off.

TOMMY
I said I would think about it.   Leave me alone.

SCENE TWO
8:00 am in the morning.   24 hours before the race

CB
(aside)  Uhhhhhh.    Man, I’m tired of all this stuff.  It’s either he’s on my side or he isn’t.   I’m not taking this anymore.

(CB walks over to the Garage to talk to Tommy)

CB
Hey, Tommy!   Wake up, Wake up!!!

TOMMY
Wow, wassup, it’s kinda early.   Was goin on?

CB
It’s been over 2 weeks we’ve been debating and arguing about this situation.  The race is tomorrow and either you go without the pipe or we don’t go at all.   So choose your pick.   (aside)   Please say yes. Please!!!!

TOMMY
You know what, you want this so bad.   You self-centered…. (deep sigh)   I’ll go.  Okay.  I’ll go.

SCENE THREE
Morning time on the day of the race.

(CB loads Tommy into the back of the truck on his way to the race)

CB
(while driving says to himself)   Wow, I’ve been waiting on this for a while.   It feels really good.

TOMMY
(aside)   Ha, ha, ha.   Wait until CB sees what I have in store for him.   He will be the laughing stock of the year.   Ha, Ha, Ha.

CB
You ready guy?

TOMMY
Yeah, just as ready as you.

CB
I’ve been waiting on this a while….Thank you Tommy.

TOMMY
Aw, you’re welcome.

(An hour later they arrive to one of the biggest dirt bike tracks in the country which is Bang Bang race way)

CB
(Smiling)  Wow, Tommy, you see all those people here?   Wow, Channel 11 news is here.

TOMMY
Yeah, everyone seems to be excited. (aside)  Yeah, everyone but me.

(Ten minutes before the race starts CB takes Tommy out of the truck)

CB
Well, this is it.   Countdown’s coming.   7 minutes before the race.  You nervous?

TOMMY
Naw, not at all, CB, not at all.

CB
(aside) Damn, Tommy is taking this really better than I thought he would.
Okay, Tommy, let’s do this.

(The crowd goes wild as the racers put the gear on and roar the motors up)

TOMMY
Here goes nothing.

(“5, 4, 3, 2,1….GO”)

CB
Tommy, let’s go boy.   GO!!!!!   GO!!!!!

TOMMY
(aside)   I wonder how he feels knowing that all the other Gorillas are way ahead of us?   Ha, Ha, Ha.

CB
Tommy, what’s wrong?    Go Faster!   Faster!

TOMMY
I’m going as fast as I can.

(CB looks at Tommy’s speed gauge and reads 25 mph and panics)

CB
Tommy, whatever the heck it is you’re doing, you need to stop now.

TOMMY
No, you could have thought about what I wanted, instead of being selfish.

CB
Damn, Tommy!   I hate you!

TOMMY
(aside)   He hates me?  Okay.   Take this.

(Tommy hits the front brakes and causes CB to flip over and wreck in the middle of the race.  He gets up and grabs Tommy and walks off)

CB
Damn Tommy, that’s messed up.

TOMMY
Yeah, whatever.

SCENE FOUR
Two days later

CB
Tommy, you ruined my life.  I thought you had feelings for me.

TOMMY
I did, but I don’t anymore.  You are selfish and you only care about yourself.

CB
Well Tommy, I’m putting you on eBay and selling you to someone in Texas, so be ready for your leaving.

TOMMY
Fine then.  That’s how it’s gonna be.

THE END
