Twister:
Dad, I brought
you here because I had about enough of listening to
you. I'm tired of it. So, I want to move on with my
life.
Ripper:
What are
you talking about, son?
Twister:
I'm talking
about---I'm old enough to make my own decisions, on
my own.
Ripper:
What decisions?
You never tell me nothin'.
Twister:
'Cos you
never listen to me.
Ripper:
Well,
you wanna talk? Talk. |
Twister:
Listen,
dad. I know you always wanted me to be this tornado guy
that destroys things, but I don't want to be that. |
Ripper:
You told
me this so many times and I already told you no.
Twister:
Why? See
what I mean? I try talking to you and I say something
and you already made my decision.
Ripper:
I'm
doing the best thing for you, son. |
Twister:
If you were
doing the best thing for me and you love me, you'll
let me be what I want to be.
Ripper:
But why
do you want to be the sky? I mean, you told me, but
what's the point of it? If I wanted you to be the sky
that's what I would have told you to be.
Twister:
Why do I
destroy things? What's the point of it? It makes me
feel sad. I just wish I could be something calm like
the sky. Just pour water like when it rains. I'll just
wet people and it won't hurt me or them. And I'll rain
to make things grow, like trees, plants, and it'll make
me happy to watch them grow from above.
Ripper:
But why
watch them grow if I would just destroy them?
Twister:
You'll just
destroy them, even if you knew I grew them?
Ripper:
Yes. You're
disobeying me, so I'm going to disobey you.
Twister:
You're a
bad father.
Ripper:
How could
you say that? I took care of you for 25 years. Now you're
just throwing that in my face? I've never told you the
reason why I want you to stay a tornado.
Twister:
What reason?
See, you have a reason and you never told me. You know
why you never told me? Because we never talk unless
I want to talk to you.
Ripper:
'Cos I never
thought you'd want to be something else.
Twister:
How could
you think that? We all want to be something else. Probably
you wanted to be something else but your father would
only let you be a tornado.
Ripper:
Thats
not true. I want the best for you and your kids. I don't
want your kids to get hurt the way you and me get hurt
when we suck things into our bodies. I made a promise
to my father that you will be a tornado no matter what
happens. We need to clear the earth, so you're kids
won't get hurt when they spin around--so they could
be free.
Twister:
But you
don't even know if I'm going to have kids.
Ripper:
You never
know. I said the same thing. If you do have kids at
least there'll be clear space already.
Twister:
Look, I
want to be the sky because I want to see how it is to
be on my own.
Ripper:
You could
be on your own if you stay a tornado.
Twister:
No, I can't
be, 'cos you'll always be behind my back.
Ripper:
'Cos I'm
just watching over you.
Twister:
I want to
take care of myself I'm 25 years old. I think I could
handle it.
Ripper:
I'm 36 and
I wish my dad was still watching over me.
Twister:
See, you
have a wish, the same way I have a wish. We can't do
nothing about yours, but we can do something about mine.
The
End. |
